Maxxed Out

Just having a moment… an amazing moment

I know I am totally stalling on that Crete post, but I couldn’t cram all the glam of Santorini in one, er three features. Crete is on deck I promise but this is a mini outfit story of one of my favorite looks while we were on that gorgeous island.

I love this pic! We were cracking up because the wind kept blowing my hair and the excess fabric of my dress. In a few photos I looked like Medusa!

Dinner at 1800 rooftop in Oia, simply delicious.

Such a stunning square with that stonework and the Grecian building in the backdrop had to snap a photo.

You know I couldn’t resist putting a flower in my hair!

With the temperatures hitting record highs, I highly recommend filling your wardrobe with a maxi dress or two. They are the perfect piece that has you looking put together chic, while still having little restriction, I look at maxi dresses as the sweatpants of summer.

The one that I am sporting in today’s post was a lovely gift from the even lovelier editor of I Heart Heels, Julie. It is by Decode 1.8 which you can find at Lord and Taylor and I actually saw a picture of it in US Weekly when I was getting my nails done this weekend! (Sorry for the awful pic, I took it with my camera phone and was nervous I was going to drop my phone in the water! Don’t need an episode like that again.) They glammed it up as well pairing it with a dressy gold necklace and heels.

So to my vertically challenged ladies out there who think they can’t wear a maxi dress because they are too short, I have a few solutions for you! You can go the dressy route as I did and pair it with heels, which will immediately elongate you, go with a strappy sandal in a simple color, maxi’s aren’t really about the feet its all about the dress and perhaps a stellar pair of earrings or a statement necklace if the style calls for it. Also a solid color maxi works really well for those on the more petite side. You can add some flair to your look by putting a vibrant scarf in your hair or my summer time favorite, a giant pile of mixed bangles.

So to my ladies tall, small and everything in between, I hope you will beat the heat in a maxi!

And, no more stalling. Next post for sure. Crete or as they say in Greece, Creta!
