What do they say at work, the boss’ door is always open? Well, on Wardrobe Wednesday consider me the boss, Oh yes I just got very Kelis on you, and my office Twitter feed is fair game for style conundrums, fashion chatter and shopping suggestions for my awesome followers. Enter awesome follower Karissa. She twitpic’ed me her new purchase and as you can read, wanted to make sure she went about tackling this trend the right way, sans holiday vomit. I am so excited she left her comfort zone and went for this daring pair, and even more thrilled to give her a little virtual style session and some tips on how to rock these right.
How’s that for a little real inspiration?! See, nothing to be afraid of… everybody’s doing it. And by everybody I mean the three photos above, and yes one of them might be of a nine-year old, but hey if the look works, there is no denying it! Check out below how I would style Karissa’s killer pants for the many moments of Spring.
1. Is this gauzy JCrew sweater not the yummiest?! Love its flattering V-Neck shape, casual color and nonchalant fit. All are elements that will compliment, yet not overshadow Karissa’s denim.
2. This Elizabeth and James blouse is beyond beautiful but a bit of a splurge. I love its delicate color that will pick up the pink tones while also coordinating with warm neutrals. A piece like this would look great under the sweater for more dimension or on its own, airy and ethereal.
3. Giving this luxe look a casual edge is the smart crossbody bag from ROMWE. The bag’s more mainstream color works well as a wardrobe staple and offers a familiar balance to the bold bottoms. Snap this one up, it’s a great value at $60!
4. Now for some fun! Since most of the look is on the demure side, kicking things up a notch with a sassy print in the look’s color scheme is just what the pastel ordered. I am living for these lively leopard flats from Madewell.
5. The fun continues with some rosegold! Working with pink is the perfect opportunity to style in some very on trend rosegold accessories that up the luxury factor and play on the supple tones. I just adore this beaded Roseland Disco Wrap from BaubleBar. {and if you know me like I think you do, you know I’d wear at least 2 of these, one’s never enough!}
1. The easiest way to work a unique piece like pastel denim is to pair it up with something traditional and structured, like a blazer. I especially love this navy Bird’s Eye Blazer from Zara for its color and fit.
I had done something similar with my pink denim, remember?
2. Working a print with the pink is totally a good move. Now this Marine style T-shirt from Mango is pretty safe as far as prints go, but you could also imagine a floral top, or a madras plaid to spice things up under that jacket.
3. Oh I’m sorry, did you say you were OBSESSED with this pristine two-tone tote? You are? Well good, then that means you have a pulse. This bag is fashion meeting function, while not overshadowing the rest of the look, OH and it’s on S A L E !Meep! Get BCBG‘s Ella Tote in canvas.
4. Let me tell you how hard it is to find a (non-hookerish) nude platform wedge… very. The Wardenn by Steve Madden have a clean look and the fresh fun of a peep toe that will anchor Karissa’s pink denim perfectly.
5. Pop that jade stripe with an accent accessory. This faceted stretchy bracelet from Forever 21 adds some fun to this refined look and for $7 it is obviously a no-brainer!
1. To bring out the “icy” tone of the pink denim, I thought pairing them with a light wash chambray shirt, this one is by Rubbish and under $50!, would give an overall cool feeling for those warm summer nights.
{ps I think everyone needs to own a chambray shirt in their spring/summer wardrobe… trust me, the outfit opportunities will just come knocking on your door, I mean, closet}
2. That chambray shirt is the perfect stage to pop that collar a bit, open that neckline and add a little more chill factor to this look via Lucky Brand‘s Multistone Strand Necklace, such a statement maker.
3. Adding to the crisp styling of this look is BCBG‘s Harlow Reptile Print Clutch. This oversized bag offers a lot with its sophisticated color and clean silhouette, I can see it working with 9 out of 10 of your spring/summer night looks. The best part, it’s only $60! So if you are asking… yes, I just bought it as I wrote this.
4. Roping this whole look together like a golden lasso, this minty fresh snake print belt from Ann Taylor. I think the chambray top would look super chic tucked in and this belt will marry the blue on top to the pink on the bottom.
5. *Breaking style news* the pointy toe is back. Before you groan and scroll on, hear me out! First of all, if we are veering back to pointy toe pumps, you couldn’t start the transition better than with these smoking hot Fravel pumps from Aldo. The silhouette alone on these bad boys makes me want to give them my number. But, in regards to the pink pants, I love the idea of a “mini-ombre” on the bottom, the light pink denim fading into the fuchsia #CHIC!
Honestly I could go on, and on but hopefully you get the gist with my trio of ensemble suggestions. (Thanks Karissa for the thought-provoking question, you will have to let me know how you end up styling them!) If you’re on Twitter make sure to join the conversation, hit me up @TPineroStyle, have a stylish Wednesday!
