After hearing rave reviews from family who had visited the island before and our friends who invited us confirming that Madame Janette’s in Aruba was TDF {to die for, in case you’re not up on your acronyms this early in the morning} I made sure to pack an extra special something for what promised to be a first-class feast. So, of course I had to bring the fierce. And just like I encourage my clients, I shopped my closet and the perfect piece with a little je ne sais quoi was sitting right there. Oh heyyy Birthday Dress, remember? To make sure I didn’t suffer from drowning in my own buyers remorse back in March I made a mental note that this sweet little chartreuse number would make its way through customs. It did and it was brilliant. Being the statement piece that it is, I looked to accessories to give my BCBGeneration dress a whole different feel from its last appearance. I layered two necklaces, both purchased on the street in Soho, to make the ultimate ode to jewelry. Obviously with mega madness going on around my collar area, there was no need for earrings and wearing the hair up was a win/win handling that humidity issue and it again cleared the stage for beading du jour. As if my stylish street steals weren’t budget friendly enough, my cocktail ring, zebra bangle and seafoam with a hint of mint envelope clutch all came from Forever21 and totaled under $30 for all three pieces. Can you handle that?! $50 worth of accessories can change the whole look, and then all those fun costume pieces become new items you can rely on to change future looks.
