Adventures in Aruba

So the theme song of the week was Nikki Minaj’s Starships. I am not sure if my fellow travelers were feeling it as much as I was since I caught a few eye rolls before the plane even left EWR, but hey I was in vacation mode! Ya know, “let’s go to the beach- each… ” This being my first Caribbean rendezvous, I was floored by the natural beauty of Aruba. The minute my toes hit the sand I had a “Coming to America” moment, what is this velvet? The luscious texture and purity of the beach caught me by surprise. I was prepared for turquoise water, but you still can’t imagine looking down and seeing your pedicure 3 feet away while vibrant fish are passing by. Pretty surreal for a girl who grew up along the Hudson River, just sayin. Now take that beauty add in some exotic cocktails and a group of fun-loving party animals and you have arguably the best trip I’ve been on to date. We laughed, we hurled well actually only I lost my cookies because apparently there is a big difference between fishing and deep-sea fishing. {Thanks Simon for leaving out that minor detail when I signed up} I thought we were going to row our boat gently down a stream and throw a few poles in, instead I felt like I was on Tilt-a-Whirl while going down a rollercoaster all while being on an episode of deadliest catch. Lesson learned. Then there was Mable, correction, Great Big Mable {another Simon idea} which is a group water raft ride that isn’t even legal in New York so I should’ve known flying off a raft at 50 miles an hour would have been in the cards. Things got crazy Hangover 2 style, as we channeled our inner international gangster as we explored the wild side of Aruba via the Kukoo Kunuku party bus, EPIC! The icing on the cake, was the Jolly Pirates who I like to refer to as the Barnum and Bailey of the high seas. These guys were hilariously entertaining, acrobatic and excellent bar tenders. Triple threat? You know it. I brought my own traditional pirate garb so obviously a good time was going to be had by all. Here are a few photos from the highlights of the week.

Whatever’s next on your vacation agenda, I hope you step out of your comfort zone and live a little! It is totally worth it.  Thanks for checking out some of the highlights of the week. Now we return to the sweet styles of summer.
