Let’s Talk About Vests, Bay-be

Uncle Jesse might have made it the coolest wardrobe piece to come out the entire series of Full House, besides DJ’s awesome royal blue sweater but we all know how that panned out, it was all about the vest. In its Latin form it translates to mean “coat without sleeves”. Alright I’m lying, that is not its translation but I’m not here to teach you Latin, I’m here to get that fall wardrobe in the 100th percentile. And a coat without sleeves is the perfect garment to help you enter the wonderful world of layering while totally defining a look.

Have Mercy! Get your Jesse and the Rippers on by adding a leather vest to your fall staples. Amp up a sweet as pie sweater, add a touch of sinfully chic to a little black dress or give a sequins top a walk on the wild side, all while maintaining your good girl gone bad image.

Now I didn’t even bust my fur vests out yet and there really isn’t a need to when we can look to the Queen, Rachel Zoe for some inspiration. The stylist extraordinaire is synonymous with bohemian luxury and nothing supports that more than a substantial pile of textured softness. *Maternity note* for my prenatal ladies this is an adorable look to adopt for the season ahead. Keep your underpinnings fitted and simple like a basic long sleeve scoopneck top, and dark leggings, add vest and you will be hot to trot like mama Zoe.

Yes, fur gets all the glamour glory but shearling isn’t far behind when it comes to taking a basic look and upping the luxe factor. I love pairing shearling with classic American staples like a denim shirt, over a white tee or sleek hooded zip-up, it gives off that effortless laid-back appeal and don’t we all just love that for fall?!
Oh! And vests actually keep you warm, so there’s that as well ;-) Whether you go leather, fur or shearling I can promise you layering a style like these over your favorite pieces will shine a whole new light on stale styles you might have considered dull and dreary.
