This bright-eyed trend will work its way through spring and summer. If you choose to wear it right now, {and obviously I’ve given tons of options but I would just work in one piece} this looks great against neutral hues especially black. Tone on tone also looks AMAZING, like the model in the beginning of this post, that jade green forms a lovely realtionship with this faint pigment. Best of all this is a great color that works on every skin tone. Try dabbling a bit of this effervescent shade into the mundane and I bet you will feel like your wardrobe has a been hit by a handful of Altoids.

Last night the ribbon was cut to let awards season officially begin. I am pretty sure I am with the majority when I say the highlight of awards shows is the red carpet, and this is especially true since they barely let Ricky Gervais speak last night. Nonetheless, I enjoy seeing couture garments and exciting fashion’s have a moment, so I tune in for the  hits, misses and the Best Actress category.

I believe it was the great Kanye West who stated “With all those mocha lattes, you got to do pilates” this also serves true if you are going to jump on the peak-a-boo back band wagon. The best way to show some skin and leave ‘em wanting more is with a cutout back on a gown and they were all over the red carpet last night. This is a trend that can go from the catwalk to the sidewalk, er well more like a black tie event, but you get what I am saying, you can wear this trend in real-life. Just make sure you sculpt those shoulders and lats for their big debut.

Tonight might have been one of the best nights for red carpet hair in a while! Soft curls, super sleek and nonchalant updos were paired accordingly to the right gowns and it looked really good. Hair with some flair a la Blair Waldorf, Queen B of the headband, also made a statement. A headband is a risky red carpet move, but I personally think each of these ladies pulled it off. Tips for pairing a hairband with an upscale look:

-Make sure your jewelry is understated, a headband will most likely call for no earrings or only a tiny stud

{Due to the fact that Busy’s hairband is so demure a more pronounced earring is a fine choice}

-Make sure your hair is neat, you don’t want a hair piece drawing all eyes to a major mess

Other major hair moments were, Nicole Richie’s ultra modern ponytail and I was loving Reese Witherspoon‘s carefree just-had-sex hair, marriage looks good on her.

Elle, Sofia, Jessica, Kate, I’m pretty sure ‘your body is a wonderland’ was written about one or all of you. Femme fatale’s with fabulous figures were no holds barred last night. From 48- years young Elle Macpherson through the latina flavor with an extra dose of cleavage of Sofia Vergara, to the what baby weight Jessica Alba, and the, I don’t know where you’ve been but I am so happy your back you drop dead gorgeous Kate Beckinsale form-fitting gowns with a bit of volume at the bottom were selling sexy in the most elegant way possible.

Tip for wearing one of these styles in real life, the more curves you have the more fitted {not tight} you should go. A nip or pinch here and there on a fishtail style, as shown on Elle, Sofia and Kate, can make a 5 pound difference. You want a dress like that to fit perfectly. If you have a waist but less curves, a style that drops off the hip like Jessica’s will give the voluptuous illusion while balancing you out.

Okay I did love a lot of what I saw trending on the red carpet… but these are my top 7 favorites, from shoes to hair they got it right!

She was one of the first ones on the red carpet and all night I thought I might be calling it early but from front to back I thought Claire Danes dazzled in J.Mendel

Emma Stone has quickly become one of my style favorites. She wears cool pieces that don’t try too hard and work well with her humeorous personality. In other words, she doesn’t dress herself too seriously. This Lanvin dress is amazing in color and the shoulder and belt details give it an edge that’s as hard as stone.

Ms Jolie has finally accepted her major status and put on her movie star panties. Her Atelier Versace gown with a hint of crimson with lips to match was enough to shut down the red carpet last night. I am not a huge fan of her style because I tend to find her too safe, or boring but I though she looked the part last night, A+

Going on 14 has never looked sweeter! I adore an age appropriate dress and a tuelle underlay, girl after my own heart. Modern Family’s Ariel Winter looked fabulous in Dolce and Gabbana. The color, the textures, perfect shoes and hair this was one of my favorite looks of the night.

Another style favorite of mine Nicole Richie, really rocked the red carpet in a form-fitting Julien Macdonald dress. Her look was polished while still having a hint of trendiness to it, which is a fashion trait I have grown to love her for. Looking forward to seeing her as a fashion mentor on the new reality show, Fashion Star.

Tilda Swinton is a high fashion favorite for every red carpet. She wears amazing designers and understands the way to style the look. This Haider Ackermann is both beautiful and bad ass {courtesy of her amazing hair} which is all parts Swinton’s style.

J’adore… need I say more? Okay, maybe I will say a little about this fabulous Dior look Charlize Theron sported. The hair, the uber sexy shoe, shown through that enchanting slit, all in that perfect blush tone that Charlize’s golden goddess skin shows off so lovely. {Notice, she’s not orange, just a healthy peachy glow} I would have totally loved to have seen a dress like the one from the J’adore ads, but maybe if we are lucky enough, she is saving something like that for the Emmy’s?!

We’ve been going green for what seems like ages now, but this bold burst of granny smith apple with halos of yellow shining through is a color to watch. Enter, Chartreuse. From JMendel’s watercolor version, to Oscar’s oh-so-right on the money, all the way through to Wu, this color has character.

Do you ever find it a little annoying to dedicate your time and enthusiasm into these reality show competitions only to have the over all winners not really go anywhere? If you agree with me, then consider Señor Siriano your silver lining. The Project Runway season four winner has really flourished and his spring ready to wear collection garner’s that. I can see any one of these styles working the red carpet, the last one especially on a younger talent. It has a casual freedom while still being over the top glamorous.

SHUT IT DOWN. That is what Elie Saab did for his Spring 2012 show. Being the over-the-top glam fiend that I am, his collection from start to finish is what I would rather being spending my hard-earned dollars on. Prismatic punches of bold unapologetic COLOR, in your face, with excellent taste. Silhouettes were clean, details demure, and it all frothed together like a magic potion that is red carpet perfection. Not sure if we will see one of these or THESE {click that to see my tumblr obsession with this entire collection} or a custom design, but I can be almost certain there will be an Elie Saab stealing the show on Sunday.

Bedazzling, bejeweled and when the light hits from the right angle, you’ll swear you saw a movie star. This is a look where garments have a retro flare, nostalgic elements of carefully orchestrated crystals and tiers of fringe unite to marry the worlds of romance and enchanting attraction. We will probably see many styles like this scattered throughout awards season, but when you will really be seeing a lot of these feminine frocks, is in the stores for spring.

Just like everything else now-a-days a hint of crazy will get you noticed, this is the good kind. Lustful ruffles, feathered fringe and a dash of va-va-voom will command attention. If put in the wrong hands, these styles could be hazardous, lets hope if these make an acceptance speech it’s on the right figure with proper accessories, fingers crossed.

This dress trend is to the soundtrack of LMFAO’s most popular song at the moment, because let me tell you baby if you dare to wear one of these serious slits you have to be sexy and I’m sure you know it and… with the height of that opening, you MUST work ouuuuuuuuut.

A tip when you’re too legit to slit: Monochromatic footwear. A shoe that is the same color/tone will create harmony with the eye and make the leg appear longer and give the over all look a more symmetrical feel.

It’s a comforting classic, the trusty black dress. Even if it’s not so much black as it is midnight, dark gowns with an air of mystery have the potential to really rule the red carpet. Going from an overlay at Zac Posen, combined with subtle shimmer at YSL and the sexiest thing I’ve seen on two legs at Nina Ricci, a dark dress maybe a trusty old friend, but this season it can prove to be a friend with benefits.

Soo its been a bit since my last post… Things got a little weird. In the midst of my holiday shopping suggestions, and really only scratching the surface of what I had planned for my December posts, I became locked out of my blog. My domain had been taken and re-registered by another user. Initially I was completely broken up over this, but after fighting for two weeks, which seemed like an eternity with the most hideous hold music, I decided instead of dragging out a losing battle with a major company who creates a million loop holes for their wrongs (GoDaddy, I recommend no one uses them for domain or website hosting), maybe it was time for a little reinvention. It was difficult since I spent A LOT of time over 3 years branding everything from Twitter to Tumblr, email, business cards etc etc. (The worst may be that I have to delete my Facebook fanpage and start from the ground up again, because they won’t let you change the name of the page if you have over 100 fans…  so be on the look out for a new one of those as well!) Clearly a major overhaul has ensued. And that my friends is the quick version of the new web address and name.

To my fabulous clients and readers who stumbled upon the impostor blog, and emailed/tweeted/messaged me of your concern, I can’t even begin to express how much it meant to me to hear from all of you. This not only made me want to come back with a vengeance, {and uber quickly, thanks to my amazing sister for my FABULOUS new logo that she whipped up in an hour } but this semi-fresh start has me wanting to pour my brain out. I want to make this the best blog it can be with more frequent updates, better style tips, savvy fashion advice and a couple interactive segments I am working on that I think you will really enjoy and benefit from!

Thanks for sticking by me when the ride got bumpy, I am determined to make 2012 the best year yet!

It seems at holiday time it is appropriate to do the following, set the DVR for ABCfamily’s 25 days of Christmas; even though you have half of those movies on blu-ray already, try every winter themed concoction at Starbucks knowing damn well the skinny peppermint mocha is the only one that’s really “worth it”,  and have an extreme attraction to all things shiny for no apparent reason. Maybe I have you all wrong, but I can identify with that list, especially the last point, and I suffer from that character trait year round…  So if you’ve got someone who sweats glitter on the holiday list, who better to direct you in the category of sequins and shimmer than moi? You know Opulence is my middle name.

If one sweats glitter, then they more than likely bleed sparkles, right? Got to cover that up with something equally as fabulous!

Happy Holidays my lovely readers! We have coyly exited wedding loveliness and stumbled right into the season of giving. So you know what can’t be far behind, holiday gift guides. Continuing with yesterday’s post, I thought I would just end the week riding out this wedding theme. I don’t normally blog about weddings because if you have ever stumbled in the wedding blogosphere you understand, that is entirely a whole other universe of blogging. However, I have attended some amazing nuptials that have been planned with great detail and sprinkled with flair, styled to a T if you will, and I feel the need to share this beauty with you. My fabulous friend Liz, who I met back in our dear old days at the Fashion Institute of Technology, has just celebrated a year of wedded bliss with her handsome husband Jack. I loved their celebration because it genuinely embodied both of their low-key, chic personalities, while still being a real wedding. I also adore all the ways they consciously incorporated the town in which we live and supported smaller businesses in the planning. It is a hard fete to plan a wedding for over 200 and still have it be charming and personal but their event had it all, smothered in romance… exactly what a wedding should be.

“Overall we wanted to have a fun and celebratory day that included all our friends and family and was a good location for everyone. We tried to support Hoboken businesses where we could between our florist, stationary, dance lessons, the guys tuxedos, cake and rehearsal dinner. We, along with all our guests stayed at the W Hoboken the night of our wedding. Even though we had a more traditional wedding, I tried to add a bit of a DIY element through creative touches. Most importantly, Jack and I really did enjoy ourselves. We didn’t miss a minute of our cocktail hour and we were able to eat, drink, dance and celebrate with our guests all night. From the first day of planning that was our goal. There were a few times during the evening where I really made myself stop and appreciate the moment. It is a day I will never forget.” -Liz

Congratulations to The Sullivan’s! A magnificent way to start happily ever after.

Pardon my hiccup in posts, the social schedule has been out of control. I am sure while I am catching my breath your invitations are rolling in. With holiday festivities approaching, whether you like it or not; I mean have you seen those insane Target commercials, you better be prepared. If a last minute soiree pops up in your schedule and you truly have nothing to wear don’t forget about one of my favorite problem solvers, Rent the Runway! I rented the Nicole Miller dress, pictured above, on a Wednesday, for Saturday, when I realized my original dress for our close friend’s wedding wasn’t going to work out. What a life saver and statement maker!
