Just Pleat It

Can you believe we are closing out April this week? The season is flying and fingers crossed, spring temperatures will be here to stay. {Ya know, so we can wear all our cute outfits and such.} Well, last week there was a high point on this climate roller coaster and I debuted a new piece that I was pretty excited about, my pleated Maxi Skirt from Zara. Funny thing about maxi skirts and me, I hated them up until recently. Last spring I really wanted to jump on board with this bohemian style but it felt too forced. Finally a couple of weeks ago I found one that was bohemian by nature but glam in design, a little more my speed. The perfect pleats and sweet as sherbet color won me over instantly. I upped the Tiffany style ante with an {older than sin, were talking I bought this cami from the Victorias Secret catalog, yes catalog, for high school spring break} bronze sequined tank. I love the way these warm colors look together, and then that extra touch of sparkle. To balance the sweetness of this look I got a little aggressive with my accessories. My Michael Kors studded belt, and Givenchy studded cuff added a hint of power. Neutrals came into play by way of the best work-bag ever, my JCrew Tillary tote and my Tobi Caged Platforms which anchored the whole look and are beyond comfortable. We happened to grabbing dinner at the South Street Seaport, so check out the great downtown scenery & how I worked my first maxi.

So I guess the big hang up with maxi skirts is, if your style is not bohemian by nature, to find the one that blends a bit of your personality in the design as well. Which leads me to a How To: Tuesday for tomorrow, perfect maxi style for all. Make sure to check back maƱana!
