Do you remember when a style felt new to you? I ask this because basically, no style is new. But since some of us weren’t alive during 70’s prime, a full sequin jumpsuit felt rather new to us in 2010 and clearly they are still going strong. I remember when I first started wearing leggings as an adult, printed leggings were so popular when I was in college in the mid 2000’s and sine then leggings have not only been officially accepted as pants, they sparked a new market in athleisure. And around that same time, maybe 2008-ish over the knee boots started to hit the fashion runways and then trickle down to the street style. I remember fondly, ordering not one but two pairs of flat over- knee-boots from Victoria’s Secret Online, one pair in black and one pair in tiger print. Yes, tiger print. And I wore both until the soles fell off quite literally. So even though this style was made new in the 60’s with all those mini skirts, and has dipped in and out of the fashion merry-go-round for decades, they are still going strong 10 years later. As a winter style staple OTK boots can feel new and fresh when you need to give those ankle boots a rest.

Tips For Styling Over-The-Knee Boots

  • Make sure the boots can stay up on their own
  • Make sure boots can fit over leggings or jeans so you can wear them with more than just dresses
  • You want at least 1″ of skin showing when pairing with a skirt/ dress to create a proper proportion
  • You can have skirt/dress layered over boot but make sure top of ensemble is fitted so you don’t appear frumpy
  • Optical Illusion! When styling if you pair a black OTK boot with black leggings, even petite girls can claim they have legs for days 😉

Style Notes:

I have had these boots for 3+ years! I am so glad they are still available online because they are the best. They are comfortable, affordable and they stay up like no other! I am actually considering getting a new pair for next year… hmm. And the dress is classified as “Juniors” sizing. I got in a medium {I usually wear a medium, size 6 for reference} and it fits well. However, it is on the short side, hey nowww.

As for the stackable Boss Rings- my girl Lara from Pretty Connected is the creator of those! I get compliments on them every time I rock them. It’s so cool her line of shoppable products have been received so well. Her camera straps are in Urban Outfitters! We go wayyy back to New York Fashion Week 2007. Gotta support my chicas doing big things. Go Lara! <3

I am hoping this over-the-knee look inspires you to keep mixing it up this season! Tag me if you try it, you know how to find me  @TiffanyPineroStyle on instagram.
